Janis Elaine Henry Savage, 69, of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born on Jan. 1, 1953, daughter of the late Eugene Henry, Sr., and Mildred (Johnson) Henry.
Janis was a dedicated member of the Jesus Mission Church. She had a strong passion in teaching Sunday school. She also served as secretary, trustee board and trustee and treasurer board.
She worked as a teller for 17 years at The First National Bank and went on to work as a deputy clerk for Magistrate Court for 25 years retiring in 2014.
In her spare time, Janis loved to bake, sew, read her bible, watch soap operas, especially “The Young and The Restless,” and spend time with her Noah, who was considered “Nana’s boy.”
She is survived by her loving husband, Franklin; her daughter, Gerri Lynn Strozier and Darrell, of Morgantown; her grandson, Noah Strozier; her brother, Gene Henry, of Morgantown; half-sister, Gerri; many nieces and nephews; and a great-niece and great-nephew.
In addition to her parents, Janis is preceded in death by sister-in-law, Cassandra Henry.
Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation arrangements. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 5 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 with Pastor Gwen McKinley officiating.
