Preston Honor Guard hosts Veterans Day ceremony today

The Preston County Honor Guard will be hosting a Veterans Day observance at 10:30 a.m. today on the courthouse lawn. The public is invited to attend.

The Preston County Honor Guard, consisting of member from all of the VFW Posts, and Vietnam Veterans Chapter 977, will honor veterans from all branches of the service.

The program will include guest speakers, a traditional three-shot rifle volley; “Taps” and a prayer for all who have served, are now serving and those who are still missing in action. A musical tribute of patriotic songs will be performed by Lori Rankin. Members of the community will provide readings.

Working in conjunction with the support of the Preston County Commission and the residents of Preston County and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 977, officials will also dedicate completion of the veterans sidewalk. The sidewalk is constructed of bricks engraved with the names of veterans from all eras.

Anyone who would like to purchase a veteran brick for installation this fall, may contact Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 977, P.O. Box 803, Masontown, WV 26542.
