Pants taken in Fairmont robbery

BY MIKE NOLTING

A male victim, who had been robbed of his boots and pants, ran down Washington Street in Fairmont as the alleged robber chased him with a knife.

Fairmont Police arrested Jeffrey Hibbs, 35, of Fairmont, after responding to Tuesday reports of a man being chased in his underwear. The victim had several cuts and told police Hibbs had robbed him as they were walking down the street together.

Hibbs allegedly told the victim he was being robbed and took the victim’s boots and jacket. Hibbs then pulled out a knife and demanded the victim’s pants, cell phone and keys.

The victim told police Hibbs had a knife and chased him down Washington Street after the robbery into the Transflo operating yard, where truck drivers witnessed the incident.

Police were able to find and arrest Hibbs while taking the victim back to his residence.

Hibbs was charged with robbery and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
