MAA announces renovations, fall classes, shows

The MAA Gallery will benefit from some renovations. Thanks, in part, from a Your Community Foundation (YCF) grant, there will be new wall surfacing and lighting. This will improve the use of the exhibit area and better enhance displaying the artwork. As a result of this renovation, there will not be a September exhibit.

MAA members can exhibit their work at the Morgantown Airport in conjunction with City of Morgantown and the Morgantown Airport Authority. This fall’s theme will be “Touching Down.” The show will be in conjunction with the University Toyota’s Morgantown Balloon Festival. The exhibit on display through December, is open to artists who are members or become members of the Morgantown Art Association at the time of the show.

The awards reception will be at 5 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Morgantown Airport. It is open to the public. The 10 cash prizes, provided by University Motors, will be awarded at that time.

The annual All-Member Show will be another opportunity for members to exhibit their talents. This show will be judged, and awards presented at a reception set for 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 6. This exhibit will be in the gallery at Mountaineer Mall, Green Bag Road.

Two fall workshops are planned at the gallery. From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 30, Reita Marks will give instruction in the art of quilling. The subject of this lesson will be “Roses.” Also, Janet Nunn, a watercolorist from Colorado, will hold a workshop Oct. 2-4.
