Tutto Gelato, Rising Creek Bakery are a match made in heaven

I am a person who enjoys ice cream year-round. I’ve been known to enjoy it around the clock as well, as I sometimes consume my frozen treats at odd times to avoid having to share them with my children. (Sorry, kids! Do as I say, not as I do.)

Let’s just say I am familiar with local ice cream offerings.

Tutto Gelato, located in Colonial Park in Suncrest, does not serve ice cream. As the name would suggest, it serves gelato.

“What’s the difference?” you may ask. To which I would respond, “Does it matter? It is just as good, nay, better than ice cream.”

For those truly curious, one difference is that gelato uses more milk and less cream than ice cream, making it a lower-fat option. I’m not a dietician, but I think that makes it part of a balanced breakfast (kidding).

The gelato bar features a rotating cast of flavors, with Cadbury Cream Egg, Samoa Cookie and S’more variations making seasonal appearances. It is available in cones, pints, quarts, in a milkshake, or as an affogato — a marvelous invention where gelato is drowned in espresso coffee and topped with whipped cream.

Tutto Gelato first opened in downtown Morgantown in 2007. It moved to Suburban Plaza in 2012 and eventually to Suncrest. The most recent, move involved forming a partnership with Rising Creek Bakery. This fusion, which operates under the name “Rising Creek 2 Tutto Gelato,” means you can get handmade baked goods plus hot or cold beverages to round out your gelato-based breakfast. I will note that there are actual breakfast and lunch foods available, which look very nice on Instagram. However, I don’t need to hide a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce,
