Gee opens home to students who will travel to and from campus

WVU President Gordon Gee opened his home Wednesday to students who will commute to campus this semester.

The Kickoff Commuter Event featured food, games and giveaways outside Blaney House, the traditional home of the president of West Virginia University.

Classes begin Aug. 16 and the university has a plethora of activities planned to welcome students back to Morgantown and to campus.

Move-in continues today and the WVU Parents Club has special plans for parents and other family members who are helping their student get moved to town.

Mountaineer Parents Club “I Survived Move-In” will be 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. today at the Evansdale Crossing, 62 Morrill Way, Morgantown. Families will be greeted by staff members and refreshments as a way to relax after the heavy lifting is over.

This event will carry over to Friday and Saturday.

Highlights of Welcome Week include cookouts, WVU All Night events, academic sessions and Fall Fest. The Fall Fest line up is expected to be announced Friday.
