Milissa Widmer

Milissa Jill Widmer “Missy” passed away at 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, with devoted family by her side. Milissa was born in Columbus, Ohio, on June 8, 1961, to the late Victor and Beulah Widmer.

She is survived by two sisters, both of Morgantown, Marcelle Widmer and Michelle Widmer Eby, brother-in-law, Steven Eby; nephews, Michael Eby, of Westchester, Pa., and Daniel Eby and wife Lindsey, of Houston, and numerous relatives she enjoyed throughout the years. Missy leaves behind several caretakers and friends who were like family: Danean Everson Smith, Kim Dalton, Deasah Lee, Esther Baah and so many more wonderful people over the years. Missy also leaves behind her roommate and best friend, Jeff Dunn, whom she was so happy to share her home and life with over the past year.

Missy was a devoted employee and often-times the boss at PACE Enterprises, where she worked since the early 1970s. Missy was a proud graduate of South Middle School in 1983.

Missy enjoyed her family most of all and reminded us daily the value of patience and love. Milissa enjoyed bowling, softball, and swimming with Special Olympics. She was an avid fan of the WVU Mountaineers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Although Missy lived with Down’s syndrome, it was her body that finally gave out, not her mind. In fact, it was her wit, sense of humor, sarcasm, love to party, love of music, work and utter determination that kept her living years longer than experts believed she’d enjoy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Missy’s honor to the PACE 20/25 building fund, forming a home for the seniors with developmental disabilities in Morgantown.

A memorial service in Missy’s honor will be held at PACE Enterprises, 889 Mylan Park Lane, Morgantown at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 31. All are welcome to attend. McCulla Funeral Home has provided cremation services.
