Orville Simons

Orville Virge Simons, 94, of Kingwood, passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was born in Elk Garden, on July 29, 1927, a son of the late Ambrose and Lanella (Hoopengarner) Simons.

Orville served his country in the Army during the Korean war from 1952-1954. He was employed by King Knob Coal Company as a heavy equipment mechanic for many years. Orville loved to hunt and greatly enjoyed the outdoors. He will be sadly missed by all who are left to cherish his memory.

Orville is survived by sons in love, Terry Lee Hall and wife Sandra, of Denison, Ohio, and Randy Zinn and wife Carrie, of Kingwood, who lovingly cared for him until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Virginia (Brown) Simons; a daughter in love, Roxie Gene Nicolson; and three half brothers, Donald Gordon, Kenneth Gordon and Edward Gordon.

Visitation will be held at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, from 1-3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24. A funeral service will then be held at 3 p.m. with Pastor Randy Cobun and Pastor Sandra Hall officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery on the Kingwood Pike in Morgantown. Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County Honor Guard and the WVANG Honor Guard.
