Gas Line Punctured

A construction crew drilling a hole to pour the foundation for a new traffic signal at the intersection of Mileground Road and Airport Boulevard struck a 4-inch low pressure plastic gas line at about noon  Tuesday.

Dominion Energy was able to quickly locate the valve to stop the gas, and repairs were complete at about 3 p.m., according to Christine Mitchell, external affairs manager.

Backup gas was hooked up to provide service but 17 customers were not able to benefit from that, she said. The leak was not reported to 911, a supervisor said.

Dominion Energy workers dig to find a gas line punctured by drillers on the Milegound Tuesday.
