12 Days of Holiday Dinners Giveaway feeds local families

The Dominion Post has partnered with Price Cutter supermarket and Weimer Hyundai Volkswagen for 12 Days of Holiday Dinners Giveaway, a contest that not only feeds one lucky family each day but also ensures unemployed or homeless people will be able to enjoy a holiday meal and end 2020 on a high note.

The giveaway began Nov. 30 and will continue through  Dec. 15.

“We wanted to help the community,” said Brian Atwood, general manager of Weimer Hyundai Volkswagen. “There is nothing wrong with another human being helping another human being.”

During the contest timeframe,  12 people have the opportunity to win a $125 Price Cutter gift card and a second gift card of the same value to give to someone in need, or donate to a local food bank.

“Why not participate, with so many out of work, hours cut or businesses even closing,” said Bruce Byers, general manager of Price Cutter. “Many struggle to make ends meet. They pay utilities, house payments, car payments even medication. There’s not much left over for groceries.

“We see the struggle here in our stores daily,” he said “Families come in, but little goes out in their shopping cart (because) there’s no extra money for more. To give back to those who need it and give them the opportunity to pay it forward to someone else struggling and see their smiling faces is what giving is all about.”

Winners will be chosen each weekday and notified the same day as well. People can enter the contest on the homepage by finding the “12 days of holiday dinners” button or go to www.dominionpost.com/12daysgiveaway
