Sheriff Department, tax office, limiting services in response to COVID-19

MORGANTOWN — The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office will continue to respond to emergency calls but other services will be limited be as a safeguard against COVID-19, according to Sheriff Perry Palmer.

The doors to the department’s lobby, located on Walnut Street, will not be open to non-essential personnel, except in emergency situations.

Fingerprinting is temporarily suspended for the general public.

New concealed carry applications will not be accepted until further notice.

Renewal of concealed carry permits will be done only by mail and renewal fees will need to be paid by money order.

Reports, such as incident an accident reports, can be obtained by calling the sheriff’s office 8a.m.-3p.m., Monday to Friday. Accident reports are also available through crashdocs.org.

Calls about in progress crimes will be answered as they have been, through 911 dispatching a deputy.

All calls regarding crimes that have already occurred, and are not currently in progress, should call the sheriff’s office at 304-291-7260 or the non-emergency 911 line at 304-599-6382.

Additionally, the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Tax Office will be closed to the public until further notice. The office will still be available by phone, email and mail. Questions for the tax office can be answered by calling 304-291-7244 or emailing taxoffice@monsheriff.com

Tax payments can be made at www.monsheriff.com or mailed to the Monongalia County Tax Office, 243 High Street, Room 300, Morgantown WV, 26505.

Home confinement payments can be paid through money order or cashier’s check to 243 High Street, Room 300, Morgantown WV, 26505. The amount owed can be found out through 304-284-7301.
