A Washington, D.C., man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly hitting another man with a bottle at a bar.

The 32-year-old man is charged with malicious assault by the Morgantown Police Department.

On Sunday, officer M. Foster saw a large crowd gathered outside of the Big Times, on High Street, according to a criminal complaint. People were yelling there was a fight and one man was injured. When Foster got there, he saw an injured man.

Foster spoke with a bouncer from Big Times who broke up the fight and a witness. Both pointed to the suspect — in the crowd outside of the bar — and said he hit the victim in the head with a beer bottle, the complaint said.

The D.C. resident was arraigned by Magistrate Sandy Holepit in Monongalia County Magistrate Court on Sunday. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Malicious assault is a felony. If convicted, the suspect faces one to five years in prison or up to a year and jail and fined no more than $500.
