Man arrested for auto tampering in Jefferson Court area

MORGANTOWN — Morgantown Police Department officers arrested a man who allegedly entered cars in the Jefferson Court area.

Robert Lee Wright, 64, of Morgantown, is charged with auto tampering and attempted larceny.

According to a criminal complaint, at 7 a.m. Dec. 15, officers spoke with a victim and identified a suspect in the case. They then obtained warrants for the suspect and found him Dec. 18 on the 200 block of Walnut Street.
Wright  is being held at the North Central Regional Jail, pending arraignment.
This arrest was made possible by concerned residents who reported suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately.
Area residents are reminded during this holiday season to continue to be vigilant and to lock their vehicles and ensure that no items of value are left in vehicles or in plain sight. Additionally, they are encouraged to record all serial numbers on their property. Serial numbers help assist law enforcement in identifying and recovering lost or stolen property.
