Two people killed in Saturday accident identified

MORGANTOWN — The two people killed in a Saturday morning crash on Interstate 79 have been identified by the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department.

Ghazi Farah Sakran, 83 and Donnis Philbeck Sakran, 82, both of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, were both killed in an accident near the 155 mile marker about 11:20 a.m.

A preliminary investigation shows the Sakrans were driving south in a Honda Accord when the vehicle crossed the median and struck a Jeep Patriot traveling north, Chief Deputy Al Kisner, of the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, said.

The Jeep Patriot had two passengers who were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Kisner said. Their names are not yet available as the report is still being put together, he added.

The crash is still under investigation, a press release states.
