University in, Morgantown out of latest WVSSAC playoff ratings

MORGANTOWN — The Week 7 WVSSAC football playoff rating came out Tuesday afternoon with mixed results for both Class AAA high schools in Monongalia County.
University came in tied for 13th — the top 16 teams in each class make the postseason — with a 5.71 rating. The Hawks (3-4) lost to Mountain Ridge (Md.) last Friday but are looking to get back on track this week, hosting No. 20 Buckhannon-Upshur.
UHS is tied with Hurricane and Cabell Midland and is a spot ahead of George Washington for the last four playoff rankings.
Right behind them but on the outside looking in is Morgantown (3-4), which sits at No. 17. The Mohigans have a rating of 5.43 and have hit a funk, losing their last two games to No. 3 Musselman and No. 6 Wheeling Park. The tough road continues Friday, traveling to No. 8 Parkersburg South.
However, if MHS can pull off a win, it can earn enough bonus points (4) to likely jump into the top 16.
With only 29 teams in Class AAA, there is a chance the bottom spots could sneak into the playoffs with a losing record, similar to how MHS did last season.

The Cee-Bees (4-2) are in the top 16 in Class A, coming in at No. 14 with a 4.83 rating following their 36-0 win over Paden City last Friday. They are slightly ahead of Magnolia and Tolsia for the final spots.
C-B can really boost its resume with a win this Friday, hosting No. 5 and unbeaten Cameron.
