Voters need to simply read Amendment 1

Stacy North, Morgantown
With all due respect to Melody Potter (DP-Monday) and Wanda Franz (DP-7-22) when it comes to Amendment 1 gaslighting is really not appropriate.
Whether you are for or against the amendment, if one reads it one can see exactly what it says.
“Nothing in this Constitution secures or protects a right to abortion or requires the funding of abortion.”
There are no exceptions in that statement. There is nothing in it that says except in instances of rape, incest or medical emergency. There is nothing in that statement that says anything about taxpayers being able to direct tax dollars where they choose.

It is a pretty definitive statement and amending the Constitution to say so is a very drastic step. in the words of Franz, “Don’t be fooled by misrepresentations.” Read it.
