MUB reroutes planned water line due to road instability

CHEAT LAKE — A planned water project by the Morgantown Utility Board (MUB) scheduled for this month has been rerouted after a slip caused road instabilities and concerns about the site.

Lower Rockley Road in Cheat Lake is a smaller road branching out from Tyrone Road.

The project, organized by MUB, was supposed to bring water to the homes of the lower road, according to Charles Corwin, a resident who has lived on the road since 1983.

“There’s no water,” he said. “This is going to be public water. It’s a big project they’ve been dealing with for years to try to get water to the lower residents down there. Finally, it’s come into fruition, but with this new problem with the road, I don’t know what’s going to happen.

“We’ve all signed contracts with MUB, and given our participatory nature, and the contracts, and the money and all of that. We need to know what’s going on because we don’t know.”
