WVU safety Pitts cited for having gun on school property

MORGANTOWN — WVU safety Derrek Pitts, who finished his true freshman season at WVU, in 2017, was cited Jan. 6 night in his hometown of Charleston for having a concealed weapon on school property while under the age of 21, according to the Charleston Police Department.

Pitts, 19, was attending a high school basketball game between South Charleston and George Washington, at GWHS. The incident happened in the school’s parking lot at about 7 p.m.

“We are aware of the matter and will handle it internally,” the WVU football program released in a statement Jan. 7.
