I-68 Car Accident

Wednesday’s rain led to some dicey conditions on some area roads, causing a few accidents.

A late-morning accident, apparently caused by a hydroplaning vehicle, caused a backup on Interstate 68, near the Cheat Lake eastbound exit.

Three vehicles were involved, and one lane was closed for a time.

Accidents were also reported on I-79 near the Westover exit and milemarker 135 in Marion County.

The accident near Westover was in the northbound lanes, closing one lane of traffic and causing a second crash.

The Marion County wreck was in the southbound lanes and reportedly closed both lanes.

Temperatures reached the high 50s with rain — heavy at times — most of Wednesday.

Today’s temperature will remain in the 50s, but slightly lower at 53, according to AccuWeather forecasters, who are calling for passing showers.

Friday will be in the low-mid-40s with rain turning to snow. Forecasters say there will be just a coating to an inch of snow.

Saturday will again bring rain turning to snow, with no precipitation expected and temperatures about 43.

New Year’s Eve will remain in the mid-40s and be mostly cloudy with showers possible.

New Year’s Day will bring a high of 40 with snow showers.

It’s back to work Tuesday with a high of 39 and morning clouds giving way to afternoon sun.
