Learn to Curl: Next lesson set for Oct. 14

The Morgantown Curling Club 2023-24 ice season is off to a slow start, with two canceled Learn to Curl dates due to low registration. The club hopes to get a few more folks signed up for its next Learn to Curl class, set for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 14 at the BOPARC Ice Rink, 1001 Mississippi Ave., in Morgantown. Curling classes are run by experienced members of the club and are a great introduction to the sport. No prior experience is required. Antique & Makers Market fundraiser set for Oct. 12-13

Now in its 49th year, the Oakland (Md.) Civic Club is gearing up for its Antique & Makers Market fundraiser. The market is the only event of its kind during the Autumn Glory Festival, offering antique and vintage treasures along with quality handmade items. The Antique and Makers Market will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 13-14 at the Oakland Community Center (old armory), 14 N. 8th St. in Oakland, Md. The fall forest fire season and burning restrictions are now in effect through the end of the year. Public meeting set to discuss Monongahela bridge project

MORGANTOWN — A public meeting to discuss the West Virginia Division of Highways plan to build a new bridge across the Monongahela River will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Westwood Middle School Gymnasium.  Based on rough preliminary sketches provided to The Dominion Post, the bridge will connect to U.S. 119/Grafton Road in the less than half-mile stretch between Scott Avenue and the Glotfelty Tire Center, at 370 Grafton Road.
