Bartlett Housing Solutions, the city’s leading organization for homeless services, announced Thursday that it will increase bed capacity by 12 beds to provide additional shelter resources for those who are experiencing homelessness in Morgantown. Quilts made in or residing in West Virginia and made before 1975 can be documented for future generations during the upcoming Mountaineer Week. Documentation will be held Nov. 4-5 in the Cathedral Room in the Mountainlair. The documentation days are part of an ongoing effort to record West Virginia’s quilt artistry and history. Friends of the Cheat (FOC) will host its State of the Watershed event from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 26 at the new 123 Pleasant Street Co-op Venue, 131 Pleasant St., Morgantown. Delivery-only food pantry opening soon in Newburg

NEWBURG — A new one-of-a-kind food pantry could be open in Newburg by the first of November. Nichole Larew, director of Newburg Grows Food Pantry, said it will be a delivery-only operation, delivering to people in Newburg, Tunnelton, Fellowsville and those in between. “I feel like it’s a need overlooked. There’s several pantries for people with transportation. I want to reach those who don’t have transportation, are elderly, or home-bound,” she said. Data shows W.Va. foster care system overloaded

BY CARRIE HODOUSEK CHARLESTON — A new report conducted by the West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy shows West Virginia places the most children in foster care compared to any state in the country, with four times as many kids in the system per capita as the United States as a whole. Mountain Line to hold service elimination public hearings

Service on Routes 14 Mountain Heights and 15 Grafton Road will be eliminated beginning Jan. 15, 2024. Service is now being provided by the RideMon service. Mountain Line’s Micro Transit service called RideMon is available to the residents in the areas of Routes 14 and 15. Riders within the zone are able to request a trip by using the RideMon Mobile App from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
