MORGANTOWN – Arguments will begin today in Monongalia County Circuit Court in the case against Joseph Nevera, 52, of Morgantown, who was charged with first-degree murder after his former girlfriend and domestic partner went missing in 2024.
The remains of Kim Osborne were found in November of that year in a shallow grave on Little Indian Creek Road, near her family’s property and the residence she and Nevera had once shared.
Authorities ruled her death a homicide.
Nevera pleaded not guilty following his arrest shortly after.
Relatives had become alarmed after Osborne, 47, failed to show at a Mother’s Day gathering at the family home.
“That wasn’t like Kim at all,” her cousin, Autumn Pope, told The Dominion Post previously.
Nevera has been lodged in the North Central Regional Jail since his arrest.
Jury selection is set for 9 a.m. with opening arguments scheduled for around 1 p.m., according to the timeline. Circuit Judge Cindy Scott is hearing the case.
