FAIRMONT – Early voting sites and precincts for Marion County’s May 12th primary ballot have been set, County Clerk Julie Kincaid said.
Voting will run April 29 to May 9, she said.
Ballots may be cast weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Kincaid said.
Early voting sites are at the J. Harper Meredith Building in Fairmont, the White Hall Public Safety Building and Farmington Community Building.
Meanwhile, political veterans are dominating the local ballot.
Tom Mainella, Dan Weber, Barry Bledsoe and David Kennedy – all of whom have served on Fairmont City Council in past years – are seeking a seat on Marion County Commission.
In addition to his past council seat, Mainella also took a turn as Fairmont mayor.
They’ll be joined on the ballot by Shaun Petracca and Warren Hilsbos, Kincaid said.
In the race for Board of Education, Sam Brunett, a Marion County resident and longtime art teacher at Morgantown High School, has filed, along with incumbents Donna Costello and Tom Dragich.
Other challengers are Donald J. D’Lusky, Betty Fast and Matt Offutt.
George Boyles, the current BOE president, is stepping down.
The county commission and school board races are nonpartisan, Kincaid said.
Frankie Delapas is running unopposed on the Democrat ballot in the race for West Virginia’s 74th House District.
Former West Virginia state trooper Scott Crouch is running on the Republican ticket for the 74th, along with Jonathan Woertz and Guy Ward – who has served in the House, on the Marion County Commission and as White Hall mayor.
Incumbent Mike DeVault resigned his seat in the 74th House on the day before the start of the current Legislative session last month.
Phil Mallow, the longtime Republican incumbent in the 75th House, is running unopposed in his bid for reelection.
Linda Longstreth, the current president of the Marion County Commission, is running for the 75th on the Democrat ticket with Josh Roark.
Democrat Rick Garcia is running for reelection in the House’s 76th District. Jon Dodds is on the Republican ticket in that race.
