Betty Lotwis Foley Ackerman, 90, of Westover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Mon General Hospital.
She was born in Morgantown on April 11, 1935, a daughter of the late William Francis Lotwis, Sr. and Nellie Douglas Lotwis.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, James Frank Ackerman; two daughters, Linda McMasters Harris (Allen) and Cynthia Foley Nevin (Bill); stepdaughter, Dr. Kelley Solomon (Alex); grandchildren, Kara McMasters McCall (Stephen), Jamie McMasters Sams (Chris), Connor Nevin, M.D. (Claire) and Ciara Nevin; step-grandson, Alex Solomon, Jr.; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James “Skip” Foley; her brother, William “Bill” Francis Lotwis, Jr.; and her granddaughter, Kelly McMasters Barnett.
Betty spent 21 years as a hand decorator at Davis and Lynch Glass Factory as well as several years as a customer service representative at JCPenney.
Betty’s life was a true testament to the power of love, family, and faith. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always putting others before herself and nurturing her family with care and compassion. She was a former member of Riverside Apostolic Church and later attended Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Betty had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Betty enjoyed line dancing, crocheting, quilt making, sewing, and painting. She was a member of the Westside Senior Center, Senior Shufflers line dancing group, and Red Hat Society.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home on Sunday, November 16, from 2 to 5 p.m., and again on Monday, November 17, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. service with Pastors Allen and Jody Donham officiating. Interment will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery.
