Ricky Leland Ward, 66, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, September 22, 2025. He was born April 2, 1959, in Morgantown.
He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, a well admired pillar of his community, and a follower of Jesus Christ.
He served as a teacher, supervisor, and trustee of Sunday school at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.
Working primarily in automotive sales, he had a very successful career and made a multitude of friends along the way.
Ricky deeply loved and cared about his family, especially his grandchildren. His love of Jesus, his church family, a nice cigar and classic cars was unparalleled. He was one of a kind and made a tremendous impact on so many people’s lives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Ward Sr; his mother, Francine Ward; younger sister, Karen Ward; and granddaughter, Tyesha Dawn Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ward; siblings, Jack, Dana and Jason Ward; daughters, Amber Ward and Ashlee Parker; his stepchildren, Christina Lorenz Bolyard, Micheal Jackson, Stefan Gatlin, Jamal Smith, Karell Smith; and many grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the 12 p.m. time of a memorial service Saturday, September 27, in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 1280 Richwood Avenue, Morgantown, with Glen Walker presiding.
