Gwendolyn Jane Vieweg

Gwendolyn Jane “Gwen” Vieweg, 55, went to heaven on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at her home in Morgantown.
She was born September 29, 1969, in Wheeling, where she attended Wheeling Country Day School and graduated from Mount de Chanel Visitation Academy in 1987. She continued her studies at West Virginia Wesleyan College as a proud Alpha Gamma Delta. She then pursued her love of early childhood education at West Virginia University.
Ms. Gwen spent the next 25 years loving on, and laughing with, her infants and coworkers at the WVU Child Development Center.
Gwen had a beautiful soul full of joy, was always smiling, never met a stranger, and had an incredible ability to remember people and places. Gwen was a very strong women, overcoming breast cancer with a grace and resilience that everyone who knew her admires.
Gwen was preceded in death by her mother, Jane McCamic; father, George Vieweg III; and sister, Roberta “Bobbie” Rhodes.
Remaining to continue her legacy of joy and love are her brother, George “Bo” Vieweg IV (Brenda); brother-in-law, Lance Rhodes (Carla); uncle, William Vieweg (Susan); cousins, Kristen Vieweg and Jennifer Vieweg; and endeared nieces and nephews: Erin Petersen (Brad), Curtis Rhodes (Marisa), Kimberly Sherrill (Aaron), Christian Vieweg, Stephanie Forrester (Hunter) and Rachel Murphy (Callaghan); along with many great-nieces and nephews.
