Catherine Kerns, of Granville, died Saturday, September 6, 2025, on her birthday at the age of 95, in Morgantown Healthcare Center.
She was born September 6, 1930, in Fairview, a daughter of the late Manual and Mary Bell Patterson.
Catherine was a member of the Granville United Methodist Church. She held the position of lay-speaker, worked with the kitchen crew, and always offered a helping hand. She cared for many elderly people in the community by visiting and catering to their needs.
She is survived by a son and his spouse, Terry Kerns and Diana of Morgantown; a daughter and her spouse, Charlotte Michael and Allen of Morgantown; two grandsons, James and John Kerns; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Allanah and Landon.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin “Dirt” Kerns; son, Ervin Lee Kerns; and daughter, Cynthia Lynn Kerns.
The family would like to thanks Catherine’s roommate at Morgantown Healthcare Center, Lois Jett, for her concern and loving care she showed to our Mother.

Family and friends are invited to gather in McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road Westover, from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 10. Visitation will continue Thursday, September 11, from 10 until the funeral service begins at 11 a.m., with Bishop Robert Dixon officiating. Following the service, Catherine will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
