Patricia Ann Allen

Patricia “Patty” Ann Allen, 91, of Westover, WV, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Kingwood Healthcare Center and was welcomed into the loving presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was born to Georgia Hall and Glenn Ingram on August 23, 1934 in Morgantown, WV, one of eight beloved daughters.
Patty graduated from University High School in 1952. Shortly after graduation, Patty moved to Westover where she would become an active member of the local community until the last few months of her life.
Early in her community involvement, she served as den mother for the local Cub Scout Troop and was a member of the Morgan Heights and Riverside Jr. High PTAs and Band Boosters. Patty also was a member of the Westover Women’s Club, serving as president of the organization twice. She also ran the concession stand during countless sporting events for the Wes Mon Athletic Association. Patty eventually pursued a career as a school cook working at Riverside School, Sabraton School, and Westwood Middle School, where she was the head cook.
Upon retiring, Patty continued to keep herself active, whether that was lunching and laughing with her Red Hat Society friends or playing (and often winning) card games at the Westside Senior Center. In fact, Patty was a founding member of the senior center and served on the governing board for many years. Patty also loved serving her community as a volunteer at Mon General Hospital from 1999 until 2020, only stepping down due to the COVID pandemic.
Throughout all of her years, Patty was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Mountaineers. She attended many WVU football and basketball games and in her later years, enjoyed game-watching parties with her closest friends at the Westside Senior Center.
While she enjoyed so much of her community involvement, nothing filled her with more joy than her family and her faith in Christ. She was a member of Grace Chapel Baptist Church of Kingwood, using her gift of service for the Body of Christ over many wonderful years.
Patty was affectionately known as “Mema” to her six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She often was asked by them to cook the best oven-fried chicken around and even made a salad that could cause her grandkids to argue over who got the last bite. She was deeply loved and will be missed.
Patty is survived by her daughter: Debbie Allen Copen (Glenn Jr. “Zeke”) of Kingwood, WV, and son: Denver Allen, Jr. of Bruceton Mills, WV She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kirk (Alison) Copen of Bruceton Mills, WV; Josh (Deanette) Copen of Morgantown, WV; Cassie (Brad) Weyer of Wheaton, IL; Brittany Allen (Craig) of Hurricane, WV, Jeffrey (Devinn) Allen of Mooresville, NC; and Christian (Ashley) Allen of McKees Rocks, PA.
Patty leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren with one additional expected in January 2026. She is also survived by her sisters Sara Sparks of Martinsburg, WV; Nancy Rutherford of Richmond, VA; Ruth Wright of Texas; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her sisters Betty Demasi, Jackie Gunoe, Glenda Page, and Becky Sams.
