MCHD now able to perform aviation medical exams

MORGANTOWN — Monongalia County Health Department is now able to perform aviation medical exams with the addition of Dr. Carl Werntz, DO, MPH. It is part of the health department’s Occupational Health Clinic. The clinics are held by appointment from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Fridays. Preston Sheriff’s department acknowledges man’s cremains were placed in trash

KINGWOOD — In their answer to a lawsuit, the Preston Sheriff’s Department and County Commission have acknowledged that a portion of a man’s cremains were placed in the trash. Byron Hawthorne filed suit in Preston Circuit Court in August. Hawthorne said he honored his and his father’s shared love for his car by placing a part of his father’s cremated remains in a small urn on his key chain. WVDEP issues nine violations at Morgantown vehicle garage

MORGANTOWN — Fuel and brine storage tanks at Morgantown’s Mississippi Street vehicle garage are the focus of nine violation notices from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The notices of violation (NOV) are split into two batches. Two pertaining to underground fuel tanks were issued Sept. 19 and seven tied to brine storage are dated Sept. 24. MORGANTOWN — A dozen or so volunteers stood in the rain on a chilly Thursday morning, waiting on a  delivery from the Mountaineer Food Bank, in Gassaway. It was the second such delivery for a new partnership between the Pantry Plus More program, Mon Health Wedgewood Family Clinics and the food bank aimed at addressing food insecurity in Monongalia County.
