Preston man charged with threatening hospital personnel, entering high school illegally

KINGWOOD — Police located a man hiding inside Preston High Saturday after he ran from them, according to criminal complaints.
Anthony Michael Shuttlesworth, 25, of Kingwood, is charged with trespassing, obstructing an officer , destruction of property, petit larceny and attempted theft. According to criminal complaints by Preston deputies, officers were called to a Tunnelton Street address after a woman found her car had been tampered with.
Earlier that day, Shuttlesworth had been found asleep in the car and was removed by police. When they returned, they found what looked like an attempt to hot wire the car.
Preston Memorial personnel called police because Shuttlesworth was in the emergency room and refused to leave unless he was given drugs. As deputies arrived, they saw Shuttlesworth go on foot from the hospital to Preston High, where he went onto the track.
He “challenged” officers and ran into the gym, where 15 cheerleaders were practicing. A rug had stuck in the door so that it didn’t latch, according to the complaint. Deputies found Shuttlesworth hiding in the cafeteria.
He complained an officer had stolen $30 from him and a nurse had poked him with a needle. Officers said they found a cigar knife in Shuttlesworth’s pocket. He was in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail Monday.
