MORGANTOWN — West Virginia football earned another commitment to start the week. Three-star wide receiver and athlete Carter Davis announced on social media that he’s committed to the Mountaineers for the class of 2027.
Davis is another recruit WVU and Rich Rodriguez stole from other Power Four schools. The Gulf Shores, Alabama, native picked the Mountaineers over Mississippi State, who was in hot pursuit, LSU, Tennessee, Auburn and multiple other top programs. He announced his commitment after taking an official visit to Morgantown on June 5, and before he went to LSU on June 12. WVU inside receivers coach Logan Bradley was the main recruiter.
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound receiver drew a lot of attention from top schools because of his speed. Davis was the Alabama 6A indoor champion in the 60-meter as an 11th grader after qualifying for states in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes as a sophomore. On the gridiron, he played in 11 games, caught 45 passes for 715 yards and nine touchdowns. He ran the ball 40 times for 118 yards and four touchdowns.
His performance on the field made him the No. 26-rated player in Alabama and the 80th-ranked receiver in the class.
Davis became the 15th recruit for WVU’s 2026 class and is the third receiver in the class. He joined fellow 3-stars Jacobi Pasley and Roscoe Hayes. Davis will most likely play in the slot for the Mountaineers in the future, with his size and immense speed.
