KINGWOOD – The Kingwood Special Levy passed with 500 voting for and 232 against. The levy will provide money for streets, Kingwood Parks and Recreation, and the Kingwood Public Library. Rowlesburg voters also passed the Fire Protection Fee for their town with 75 voting for and 34 voting against the fee.
The fire levy to provide funds for all 12 of Preston County’s Volunteer Fire Departments received 3,309 votes or 64.3% for the levy and 1,836 voting against. The levy needed 60% to pass.
Preston County voters turned out to support candidates at the state, county and local levels. November’s turnout will determine the winner in races with Republican and Democratic candidates. Candidates who were unopposed in the primary secured their seats and races that are nonpartisan are decided in the primary.
