Beverly Shaffer

Beverly Ann Shaffer, 87, passed peacefully at home with her family by her side on Friday, March 31, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Harry Beckwith Sr. and Elizabeth Ann O’Brien Beckwith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harry A. Beckwith Jr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 67 years, who provided her with great care through her illness, George F. Shaffer; two sons, George B. (Kellie) Shaffer and Thomas J. (Missy) Shaffer; as well as her grandchildren, Douglas and Keaton.

Beverly was born and raised in Kittanning, Pa. After graduating high school in 1953, she completed the Shadyside Nursing Academy program in 1955 and went on to practice as a registered nurse at Armstrong Co. Memorial until her retirement. She and George later moved to Florida, where they spent a couple years before planting roots in Morgantown in 2008. The two of them still very much enjoyed taking trips to Disney when they could. They also liked going to the Senior Center together to play bingo and grab a bite to eat or stop by a Par 3 golf course. Beverly was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kittanning and Avery United Methodist Church in Morgantown. She had a talent for playing the organ and loved old musicals. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

Honoring her wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home.
