Dave Dusenberry

Dave Dusenberry Jr., 79, of Morgantown passed away late Monday evening, April 3, 2023, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Morgantown, on July 18, 1943, a son of the late Fredrick David Dusenberry Sr. and the late Lola Belle Dusenberry McVicker.

Dave is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte Pounds Dusenberry; his children, Lola Riley and husband Eric, of Morgantown, Brenda Frum, of Windham, Ohio, and David Dusenberry and wife Teresa, of Masontown; his grandchildren, Alicia Frum and her fiance’ Chris Demanelis, Kole Riley, Tyler Riley and Joshua Dusenberry and his fiance’ Haley Hicks; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; his siblings, Peggy Spiker and husband Leonard and Edys Deuesenberry and husband Tom; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by death one grandson Michael Frum.

Dave was above anything else a family man — totally devoted to his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He always looked forward to family vacations and spending as much time together with them as he could.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Following his service in the Army, he was employed with Mecca 911 for many years, where he was awarded with Communicator of the Year for the state of West Virginia. He was a dispatcher for the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department and also served as a bailiff in the Mon County Court System. He was heavily involved with Senior Monongalians, having served as their past president.

Friends may join the family to honor Dave’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from noon-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 7, officiated by his friend, Jason Smith. Immediately following the funeral service, interment will follow at Pleasant Hills Cemetery in Morgantown, where full military honors will accorded at the graveside.
