Westwood Middle School to hold 9/11 event highlighting locals with first-hand experience of attacks

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Westwood Middle School will hold a 9/11 remembrance and memorial event today, the 18th anniversary of the attacks. Social studies teachers told students to personalize the day by interviewing family members about where they were on that day in 2001. Westwood Middle School employee Sarah Cook was a first responder at the Flight 93 site. Sidewalk construction underway in Kingwood

KINGWOOD — It should be smooth walking, driving and marching on Tunnelton Street during the Preston County Buckwheat Festival. The State Division of Highways (DOH) started work on the street, which is partly inside city limits and belongs to the state. The 10th annual Julie Foster Hawk Walk took place 1-3 p.m. Friday at University High School. The Hawk Walk was founded to raise money to support then-UHS teacher Julie Foster in her battle against colon cancer. Opioid outreach program focuses on rural counties

In its continuing effort to curb the opioid epidemic in West Virginia, the WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health will institute a three-year outreach program geared toward helping some of the state’s more rural counties overcome the ongoing health crisis.
