It was a busy year in Monongalia County’s courts — 2019 saw the suspects in two shootings sentenced to prison and several notable trials, including one that sent a rapist to jail. An attempted murderer Imani Zachary Cody, 21, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and wanton endangerment involving a firearm in Monongalia County Circuit Court on July 10. Unsheltered homeless count in county to be announced Jan. 22-23

Having declared its frenetic initial push a success, the Home for the Holidays initiative — new name coming — is looking to transition forward. Representatives of the effort recently explained that it will have placed 27 people — 16 households — into stable housing with case management and wraparound services by the end of the year. Almark Foods expands recall to all products from Georgia facility

Almark Foods is expanding its voluntary recall, first announced on Dec. 20, to include all hard-boiled eggs manufactured at the firm’s Gainesville, Ga., facility, including all retail, pillow pack, pouch pack, frozen diced and protein kit products, due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, the company announced in a press release. The products were distributed nationwide. Man accused of strangling person during argument, destroying cellphone

A Granville man is accused of choking a person who he is in a relationship with during an argument. Terryll L. Little, 34, is charged with strangulation by the Granville Police Department. On Christmas Eve Day, Little got into an argument with his victim, who he lives with and is in a domestic relationship with, according to a criminal complaint. The two were planning to go shopping but the argument continued and the victim went inside, into their bedroom and locked the door, the complaint said.
