Preston native serves aboard U.S. Navy floating airport

NORFOLK, Va. — Petty Officer 2nd Class Mandi Daigle, a native of Terra Alta, is one of more than 5,000 sailors serving aboard the self-contained mobile airport, USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. Daigle attended Preston High School. Daigle said the skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Terra Alta. “Spending time in Terra Alta taught me a good work ethic,” Daigle said. “If you have a job to do, work until you get it done. Monongalia Dems’ chair resigns

On Monday, Mindy Salango, chair of the Monongalia County Democratic Executive Committee, resigned her role as chair. The committee announced the resignation Friday and said it will elect several new leaders at the Nov. 13 meeting. Salango’s resignation came as a surprise to the committee, who praised her stalwart leadership through a momentous period of leadership change and Delegate Hamilton’s nomination for House of Delegates. Sewer board to replace 46 grinder pumps

KINGWOOD — Prior to its monthly meeting, the Kingwood Sewer Board held a special meeting concerning the replacement of 46 grinder pumps with gravity flow systems. No members of the public attended. Matt Flueharty, an engineer from Civil & Environmental Consultants (CEC), said the project would allow the city to pick up 46 new customers. Kingwood Council learns of closing trailer park

KINGWOOD — Members of Kingwood City Council held a short meeting Tuesday evening. Amy DeBerry, Kingwood Sewer Board clerk, updated council about the surcharge that would be added to the bills of those not complying with I & I repair.
