Former Regional Jail inmates testify about conditions

BY CHRIS LAWRENCE CHARLESTON — Members of a legislative interim committee learned some of the problems associated with the state’s Regional Jail system from a couple of people who have experienced them first hand. Ashley Omps of Morgan County and Melissa Rose of Pocahontas County testified before the committee in Charleston on the conditions of their incarceration in the system. Arrest made in Northside Hills apt. shooting

Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Morgantown man in connection to an April shooting at Northside Hills Apartments. Levi H. Kelly, 21, has been charged with attempted murder, use of a firearm during a felony and 16 counts of wanton endangerment for each round fired. The shooting took place just before 2 a.m. April 24 at the apartment complex at 2800 District Drive. Deputies were dispatched to the scene, where they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.
