MCSD warrant investigation leads to shooting at Sabraton CVS

MORGANTOWN — At about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, personnel with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department erected a small sunshade over what appeared to be a body covered with a sheet near the entrance of the CVS location in Sabraton.

The parking lot, filled with nearly a dozen marked and unmarked MCSD vehicles, was cordoned off with police tape.

According to the sheriff’s department, the scene was the result of an attempt to identify an individual suspected of having an active warrant.

“At approximately 9:25 a.m., Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the CVS in Sabraton following a report that an individual with an active arrest warrant was at the location. While deputies were attempting to identify the subject, shots were fired,” an MCSD press release states.

Authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the West Virginia State Police, the Morgantown Police Department, and Monongalia County Emergency Services.

The investigation is active and ongoing. No further details regarding the condition of the suspect or the identity of the involved personnel are available at this time.
