Tim Tebow will speak at GameChanger event at Greenbrier Resort on May 28

MORGANTOWN — Tim Tebow, the former Florida football star and 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, will be making a visit to West Virginia in May.

Tebow will be the featured speaker on May 28, at the fifth annual GameChanger/MVB Prevention Education Dinner and Golf Classic, held at the Greenbrier Resort.

GameChanger, founded by former WVU sports information director Joe Boczek, is a student-powered substance misuse prevention movement focused on stopping youth drug use.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to attend and speak at the GameChanger Prevention Education Dinner,” Tebow said. “Our young people are one of God’s greatest gifts and too many lives are lost to fentanyl, opioids, and addiction.

“GameChanger has stepped into the fight, bringing real hope and solutions, and I am honored to stand with them in this mission.”

Tebow helped lead Florida to the 2006 and 2008 national championships. He became the first underclassman to win the Heisman after passing for 3,286 yards and 32 touchdowns, while rushing for 895 and 23 scores in 2007.

He was a first-round draft pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2010 NFLDraft. Tebow played two seasons with the Broncos and a third season with the New York Jets.

He is a five-time New York Times best-selling author and is a current college football analyst for ESPN.

“Tim Tebow is as good of a person there is and to have his support is a compliment to all the hard work everyone on our team is doing,” Boczek said. “Prevention education is challenging, but the lives of the youth in West Virginia and the nation are worth every hour of every minute of every day.”
