Donald Hoskinson, 81, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, in his home in Mt. Morris, Pa. following an extended illness.
Born on December 12, 1944, at home in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Harry and Leota McClure Hoskinson. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1962, setting the foundation for his life full of hard work and dedication.
Donald served his country with honor and duty as a member of the United States Army. He had just landed in Okinawa, Japan in 1965 when he was called home following the death of his brother, H. Ronald Hoskinson, in Vietnam.
In 1966, Donald married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Bolyard, who survives. They shared over 60 years together, a testament to enduring commitment. Together they raised two children and delighted in their grandchildren and great-grandsons.
After his military service, Donald began working as a coal miner. He rose to the position of General Mine Foreman, eventually retiring from Consol in 1991. After his official retirement, he enjoyed working part time in construction with friend Paul "Hank" Poling.
Donnie was a man of many talents, known for his ability to fix almost anything and his willingness to help family, friends, and neighbors. His love for working with his hands extended far beyond his career, as he spent countless hours immersed in projects in his garage. When his health allowed, he enjoyed golfing and often traveled to Myrtle Beach to play.
In addition to his parents, Harry and Leota Hoskinson, he is also predeceased by his brother, H. Ronald Hoskinson; son, Michael G. Hoskinson; daughter, Pamela S. Kendall; and family member, Harold Campbell.
Left to treasure his memory and legacy are his wife, Carolyn Sue; brother, Brian Hoskinson of Morgantown; granddaughter, Ashley Forlines and husband, Grayson of Morgantown; grandson, Jacob Hupp of Carmichaels, Pa.; cherished great-grandsons: Maxwell, Samuel and Benjamin Forlines of Morgantown; special family, Ellen Campbell and Valerie Sisler and husband, Rick; son-in-law, Daniel Kendall; and nieces, Rhonda Hoskinson and Hannah Poole.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Amedisys Hospice, especially Katie, Amanda, and Marie, for their compassionate care and support during Donald's final days.
There will be visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, August 3, in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. 324 Mount Morris Rd., P.O. Box 478, Mount Morris, PA 15349 , Shane M. Ayers, Managing Director, with the funeral service being held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Joseph Adams officiating.
