Irmadell Pugh

Irmadell Adams Pugh, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022. She was born Dec. 31, 1936, a daughter of the late Russell D. (Mike) and Mary Adams, and was raised in the community of Cheat Neck, and has been a lifelong resident of the Morgantown area.

She married Edward Eugene (Gene) Pugh on March 8, 1954, and in March 2021, they celebrated
67 years of marriage.

She graduated from Morgantown High School in 1954 and lived in San Antonio during Gene’s military service until November 1956. She began her government employment in 1955 with the Department of Defense at Lackland Airforce Base. In 1956 she transferred to the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, D.C. She returned to Morgantown in 1957 and began working as a clerk-typist with MSHA, then the Bureau of Mines in 1958. She held various clerical and administrative positions leading up to the role of management and program analyst. She retired from MSHA in June 1994 with just under 40 years of government service.

Irmadell was an avid golfer and member of The Pines Country Club and the Pines Women’s Golf Association since 1983. She was an active and dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in Morgantown. Her other hobbies included knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, Gene; their daughter, Christie and husband Danny Bonner; her sister, Patricia Weaver; sister-in-law, Barbara Adams; and two dearly loved grandchildren, Derek Bonner, his wife Kelly and great-granddaughter Kate and Ashley and her husband Travis Ritchie. Irmadell also had many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Irmadell was preceded in death by her son, Randall, and her brothers, Edward and Russell Dale “Mikey” Adams.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the Amedisys and Hospice care nurses who assisted in the care of Irmadell as well as the care workers Brynn, Katie, Kim, Laura, Lisa, Marcy and Taresa. We appreciate all of your love, care and support.

Family and friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, and again from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday with Pastors Ron Lindholm and Doug Strother officiating. Irmadell will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Cemetery.

The funeral service will be live-streamed, on Irmadell’s memorial page, found on the funeral home’s website.

The family is accepting flowers, however, donations may also be made in Irmadell’s memory to Calvary Baptist Church 519 Burroughs St. Morgantown, WV 26505.

Masks will be required for those attending the visitation and service.
