State trooper hit by man driving the wrong way on I-79

A West Virginia State Trooper and the man who was driving the wrong way on Interstate 79 are both unharmed following a head-on collision on Wednesday morning. James Davie, of Washington, Pa., got onto I-79 traveling north in the southbound lanes from either the Westover or Star City exit, according to Sgt. D. Barger of the West Virginia State Police. Davie, driving a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta, then collided with a state police cruiser, which was traveling south towards Morgantown, Barger said. The Monongalia County Commission on Wednesday passed a resolution declaring March “West Virginia Women in History Month” in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment’s ratification in West Virginia.
