Terra Alta allowed to hire two new officers
Terra Alta — A $185,050 U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) grant will allow Terra Alta to hire two full- time police officers.The grant is through the DOJ Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Hiring Program.Mayor Bobby DeLauder said Terra Alta currently has no police officers.“We were able to remain a priority for the DOJ because we have no officers at this time,” he said.DeLauder, a retired law enforcement officer and former Terra Alta police officer, said one of his priorities will be to have school zone coverage by this fall.“I have no doubt that each recipient ...
