Designs underway to improve I-79 Exit 155

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – According to West Virginia Division of Highways spokesman Brent Walker, design work is underway for improvements to Exit 155 (WVU/Star City) on I-79. Walker said the DOH is in talks with private developer WestRidge, its consultant, HDR and the Morgantown Monongalia Metropolitan Planning Organization. “Original plans have considered a divergent diamond interchange with a flyover heading west,” Walker said. “It may also include a roundabout.” He said the results of an ongoing traffic study would help inform the final design. County Commission contributes $17.6K to Valley View Avenue resurfacing, addresses Scotchell estate

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Monongalia County Commission made its contribution to the resurfacing of Valley View Avenue official on Wednesday, approving $17,690. Valley View connects to Willowdale Road across from Milan Puskar Stadium, at the site of WVU Medicine’s new Willowdale Garage. The county’s funds will be added to equal amounts from WVU Medicine, the Morgantown Utility Board and Zip Shearer, owner of Chateau Royale Apartments, for the work, which is expected to be completed by Wednesday, weather permitting. State police officer hospitalized after shooting

MARLINTON, W.Va. — A state police trooper was hospitalized after being shot in the stomach Monday evening in Pocahontas County. West Virginia State Trooper First Class Josh Tallman, from the Elkins Detachment, responded to a call in Pocahontas County after a driver had fired a shot from a rifle at Pocahontas County Sheriff J.P. Learn to tan a hide at workshop

In mid-October, the Arnettsville Community Center will be hosting a hide-tanning class, instructed by Jason Drevenak, president of the North American Bushcraft School. The North American Bushcraft School is in the Eastern panhandle. The workshop is set for 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 19, rain or shine, and it will focus on how to turn any animal hide into leather “suitable for all kinds of craft.” Admission for the workshop is $20.
