Based on statistics from the American Farm Bureau Federation, 10 people can be fed for $48.91, or less than $5 per person. This is an increase of one penny from last year’s cost, the AFBF said in a release. “The average cost of this year’s Thanksgiving dinner is essentially ...

Researcher believes drug could tackle opioid crisis

WVU Today All pain is not the same. A headache doesn’t feel like a papercut. The sting of denim against a sunburn is nothing like the jolt of ice against a sensitive tooth. Pain relievers are equally diverse. By interacting with different parts of the nervous system, they treat some pains better than others. West Virginia University researcher Shane Kaski is investigating whether an anti-itch medication that targets a specific part of nerve cells can make morphine — which targets a different part — more effective. His findings suggest it can. If he’s right, doctors ...

Brundage was at West Virginia University Thursday for a diversity and inclusion workplace discussion sponsored by the WVU LGBTQ+ Center. “You can’t just put someone in a box,” she ...

State, WVU look to be included in transportation project

West Virginia and WVU are hoping to be looped and on the ground floor on the Virgin Hyperloop One project, a futuristic method of transportation that could one day move goods and people through a vacuum tube at a speed of more than 600 mph. Virgin Hyperloop, based in Los Angeles, said earlier this month it was issuing a request for proposals to states, municipalities and universities to create a certification and testing center for the project. Gov. Jim Justice is scheduled to be in Morgantown today at WVU’s Erickson Alumni Center to promote the state’s participation in the ...
