Preston County Community Choir practices for Christmas concert, seeks new members

KINGWOOD — The Preston County Community Choir is practicing for its annual Christmas concert, according to choir co-director Wayne Williams. Williams said choir performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, at the Kingwood Baptist Church, and 7 p.m. Sunday at the Terra Alta First United Methodist Church. The choir was established in 1970 by Vivian McConnell. Lawsuit against Preston sheriff dropped after action taken

KINGWOOD — Indian Rocks Estates LLC, which filed suit last year against Preston Sheriff Dan Loughrie, is now asking for the suit to be dismissed. Indian Rocks, a mobile home park on W.Va. 7 near Reedsville, had asked the court to compel Loughrie to “perform the duties of his elected office.” It said in a lawsuit filed in Preston Circuit Court that Loughrie failed to enforce three 2017 judgments for wrongful occupation. This might not be a good time of year to learn this, but a national financial website said West Virginia has the second-lowest median family income in the country. Only Mississippi has a lower median salary. According to 247wallst.com, the median (half have above, half below) family income in the Mountain State is $57,718, Mississippi topped the list with $57,380. Arkansas was third with $58,080. Johnson pleads guilty to 6 charges

KINGWOOD — On Tuesday, Clay Conor Johnson, 32, pleaded guilty to DUI, reckless driving, obstruction, aggravated DUI, and two counts of destruction of property. All six charges are misdemeanors.
