Hospitals participating in Save a Life Day

On Sept. 8, all 55 West Virginia counties are joining together to host the largest day of free naloxone (Narcan) distribution in the state. And Mon Health System hospitals will be in the mix. This is the third year for Save a Life Day, but the first time all 55 counties will participate on the same day. A statewide map of over 150 events can be found at savealifewv.org. WVU MEDICINE The West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) launched afirst-in-the-world clinical trial pairing focused ultrasound treatment with Alzheimer’s antibody drug therapy to a targeted area of the brain, unlocking new potential for the treatment of the disease. Health Department offering monkeypox vaccine clinic

Monongalia County Health Department has received its first shipment of the JYNNEOS vaccine, which has emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to inoculate individuals against monkeypox. MCHD Clinical Services will hold a monkeypox vaccine clinic on Friday, by appointment only, to individuals considered at higher risk for the virus that has a hallmark symptom of a rash that may be located on or near the genitals and on other areas, such as hands, feet, chest, face or mouth.
