Marion County fraud probe yields charges for 3 people

BY MIKE NOLTING Three Marion County residents are facing charges after police allege they worked together to defraud a resident out of more than $17,000. The investigation began this past week when a report of several fraudulent charges on a bank statement was reported. Police then learned of 142 fraudulent charges totaling $17,938.58, and obtained the name of a suspect — Cyleigh Brock. Civilian police review board to host public forum

The Morgantown Civilian Police Review and Advisory Board will hold an open house/public forum from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Morgantown Public Library, 373 Spruce St. The purpose of the event is to inform the community about the board, its purpose and what its powers are within city code. Non-uniformed jail personnel would be up for a raise under House bill

West Virginia’s non-uniformed corrections workers would receive pay raises under a bill advanced by the House Jails and Prisons Committee. As committee discussion noted, uniformed corrections officers received pay raises as an outcome of a special legislative session in August.
