Mon Arts Center announces programs, camps

The Monongalia Arts Center has announced its programming schedule for the first half of 2024, including kids’ summer camps. Dedicated to bringing fun, affordable arts and creativity to the local community, MAC’s lineup offers adult and kids’ classes for every artistic level. Weekly workshops and one-off classes include photography, painting, watercolor and acrylics, Valentine’s Day activities to do solo or with that special someone, Easter designs, dance classes and more. The winter burrow of French Creek Freddie is what everybody had come to see as Wildlife Center Manager Trevor Moore coaxed the drowsy critter from his lair. “I don’t see any shadow, looks like early spring,” said Moore as he and Freddie took a look around. Right From the Start aims to help guide mothers and children to healthier lives

KINGWOOD — Right From the Start (RFTS) is a statewide program that helps West Virginia mothers and their babies lead healthier lives. Rita McNair, a registered nurse and designated care coordinator (DCC) with the Preston County Health Department, said the program is free, and supports pregnant women, mothers and their new babies by providing information about resources that help create a safe and nurturing home. The West Virginia Women’s Commission (WVWC) announced that registration is open for the 2024 Women’s and Girls’ Day at the Legislature. The event will be from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday at the West Virginia Culture Center in Charleston.
